Who we are
The Special Projects Risk Management (SPRM) Group was established in 2004 by two old friends and corporate colleagues Carel Barnard and Joyce Hess who saw a great need for a company that could provide professional health and safety solutions for special projects ranging from large implosions to event management and construction projects.
SPRM initially focused on corporate and event health and safety management as well as the construction health and safety industry.
In order to focus our attention we decided to split the company into two operating entities.
Both with its own clear focus, and in 2016 Ad Astra Health and Safety (Pty) Ltd was established to operate in the Construction health and safety industry, while SPRM continued to focus on corporate and event health and safety management.

Implosion Cooling tower
We provided health and safety services and project co-ordination for the implosion of the Landmark old Athlone PowerStation cooling towers, which was an historical event.

We provided health and safety services to the KKNK annually, for more than 8 years.

Our experience counts
SPRM was started in 2004 after gaining many years of valuable experience in the health and safety industry. Since starting, we have consulted on the health and safety aspects worked on, and successfully completed more than 5 500 varied and interesting projects. From construction projects that include building dams, houses, offices, wastewater treatment plants, civil work, roads infrastructure and refurbishment and housing projects for Government departments to large art and music festivals to huge implosions. We have consulted on the health and safety aspects of a wide range of varied projects.
